As I did mention in the introduction of my blog, I did turn vegetarian several months ago, also thanks to my wife’s support. I have to say that I’ve never been a great meat lover but once in a while I never refused a good beef filet or a nice prime rib steak. The main reason of the change is not about animal cruelty but mainly because of bad quality of meat been distributed and sold in the supermarkets. So my wife and I did start to do research about the meat consuming. We started to watch documentaries, reading books and articles and all of them did confirm that meat is one of the main reason for our health issues (see cancer, long term diseases and so on) and also earth pollution.
I would have never thought that to produce 1kg of meat 15,000 liters of water must be consumed!!! without counting an additional 15kg of animal feed. That is also one of the causes of deforestation and air pollution.
On top of it, most of these animals are loaded with steroids, hormones and antibiotics so the level of protein is basically close to zero. So at the end of this search I do think that eating meat is mainly a cultural habit rather than the actual need of it.
As a personal experience, already after few weeks that I did started a vegetarian diet I could notice the benefit of it, felt better, stronger and with more energy.
Anyway, in this blog I will post some vegetarian recipes which will be easy and fast to make, but mainly tasty!. Ready to hear your comments if you will try them :).
