Hi, my name is Marco, turning 47 in few months and I have a dream, finishing 5 Ironman in 5 continents by the age of 50.
I do consider myself as an average normal guy but with a huge passion for sport. I do think in a way sport saved my life; it did helped me to stay focus in difficult moments, to overcome my fears, to meet new friends anywhere I travelled or I moved.
Born and raised in Italy. Moved to US by the age of 30 and lived there for 10 years, since I decided it was time to go back in Europe. Moved then to Switzerland and lived there for 7 years till recent time where my life gave me another twist.
Back last year in December I met the woman of my life, got married in beautiful Krakow (Poland) at the end of June this year and since then I do live here.
Since I moved here, thanks to sport, I met great people which I do consider friends, and they gave me the extra strength that I needed to be crazy enough to sign for an Ironman.
Well, an Ironman is already a big challenge, am I capable of doing 5 in 5 continents by the age of 50? Time will tell but in the meantime I thought I do need the support from all the people that will be patience enough to follow me throughout this journey and will guide me till the end 🙂
I am a Capricorn, known to be stubborn, at the age of 16 due to some back issues I went to a very well known Orthopedic in Milan and I was told not to do sport anymore because it was not good for me.
At the age of 40, while in Switzerland, I ended up with a bad herniated disk, I went to one of the most important clinic in Luzern where I was told the only way to recover was a surgery and I should have quit with sport.
Guess what?, I didn’t go for a surgery, I did recover from the injury and managed to do several triathlon Olympic distance and my first Half Ironman! 🙂
I met several friends in their 30 saying :”I wish I’ve done it but now is too late or I am too old”.
The age is not an issue, our mind is an issue. Getting older forces us to listen to our body more, but if we really aim for something we can all do it, and if we cannot, there will be friends ready to support and keep us going. That’s why I wish through my blog to meet new friends wherever you are and get your advice, support and why not critics if needed.
Last but not least it is related with food. As said we do need to take good care of our body and try to intake good fuel to keep us going. Since I move to my new hometown and thanks to the support of my wife I’ve decided to turn Veg. Another challenge to see if, body during training will adapt better without animal protein or not.
Well if you are still here and managed to read till the end please do follow me through my journey and I hope to hear from you or maybe see you somewhere in this planet and do some training together 🙂
Thank you very much for your time to visit my blog. Please keep follow my journey and if you have any questions or advices to share, I will be more than happy to hear your thoughts. I do need your support!!!
